Another Jazz Fest is almost in the books. Do you know how easy to tell that the Fest is going on? Well, first off Mr. Bobby isn’t at his table on Friday “holding court” like he normally does. Secondly, a lot of well tanned, sometimes sunburned, people come in late but still dressed for a sunny day. I love when they still have their sunglasses on at 10 PM. When they take them off to read the menu, they have that tan line that gives them raccoon eyes. Little things like that make me giggle.
The other reason I know it’s Jazz Fest time is because people come in complaining about the high cost of the food there and ask me why I’m not out at the Fairgrounds cooking for them. I have my reasons.
Mainly, I couldn’t justify charging you any more at a great festival than I do at my diners. Also, I love sneaking into the Fest myself. (By sneaking in, I don’t mean I go through a hole in the fence. I mean that I make it to Jazz Fest every year, and you still haven’t seen me – I go incognito). I know, that even without Dots, the food at the Fest is always amazing, as is the music. Tony Bennett was great last week. And that girl that sang with him, I think her name was Lady Gaga, she surprised me with her strong voice.
Whether you made it out to Jazz Fest or not this year, I have another special treat for you this time – 20% off your next check. Once you stop peeling, come on in and see me.
Love ya,
Dot
